SLG Secures Complete Trial Victory for City of Bayonne and 20 Individual Defendants

BAYONNE, NJ — Shah Law Group (SLG) is proud to announce a sweeping legal victory on behalf of the City of Bayonne and 20 individual defendants in the matter of Ross v. City of Bayonne, et al. (Hudson County, Docket No. HUD-L-1625-20).
On May 5, 2025, after a six-week trial, the court granted SLG’s motion for a directed verdict, vacating a jury award and dismissing the plaintiff’s hostile work environment claim. The jury had previously found against the plaintiff on her LAD retaliation claim. The result was a complete defense verdict in favor of the defendants.
The Court’s opinion emphasized that the alleged conduct, even when considered cumulatively and in the light most favorable to the plaintiff, did not meet the legal threshold of severity or pervasiveness required to establish a hostile work environment.
SLG’s trial team was led by Roshan D. Shah, Nina Swinarsky and paralegal Keyshawn Hall. The 7-year-old matter was transferred to SLG late last year for trial. The matter included claims for LAD retaliation, and both racial and sexual harassment. Trial commenced on March 24, 2025.
